Bill Blakemore of Walstrom Marine inducted into the MBIA Hall of Fame

Livonia, Mich., December 11, 2015 --- Bill Blakemore, an exemplary employee with Walstrom Marine in Harbor Springs, Mich. for more than 50 years, has been inducted into the Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) Hall of Fame for the year 2015. The presentation was made at the Recreational Boating Educational Conference (RBEC), held Dec. 10 in Lansing, Mich. “Customers came from all over the Midwest to Harbor Springs to have Bill work on their boats,” said David Lyle, president of Walstrom Marine, who nominated Blakemore. “He has been a meticulous and masterful artist with an eye for perfection.” “Blakemore is being recognized not only for his technical ability, but also his dedication to excellence,” said MBIA’s Executive Director Nicki Polan. “He shared his gift and mentored many young technicians in his career, and that is beneficial for the entire industry.” Blakemore worked at Walstrom Marine since 1966 after leaving the US Navy. He is now retired. MBIA is the official, state-wide marine industry association which serves as the voice to Michigan’s $7.4 billion marine industry and the 4 million people who enjoy Michigan’s nearly 1 million registered boats. The MBIA is dedicated to the advancement, protection and promotion of boating across Michigan. The MBIA produces three association-owned boat shows, the Detroit Boat Show at Cobo Center, the Spring Boating Expo in Novi, and the Boating & Outdoor Festival in Harrison Twp. The proceeds from these shows benefit boating in Michigan through MBIA programs and promotions.
